When you are sitting in the dead of winter trying to daydream about the perfect spot to visit in order to escape these desolate months, you have plenty of options to choose from. Most of us imagine long stretches of white beaches, with translucent aquamarine water, a never ending blue sky and a roaring sun. We want to dig our toes into the sand, pop the top off the bottle, grab our favorite book, kick our feet us, and let the world spin around us. We don’t want any part of the troubles, trials, and tribulations of today. We just want this one moment to unplug, unwind, and relax; to enjoy life in its most calming, beautiful way possible. Laying at the beach is something that we all have enjoyed, or daydream of enjoying, it is the classic fantasy for getting away.
There are many different places you can go to in order to have that experience. Whether it be Hawaii and one of its many majestic locations, the Caribbean and reputation for one of the best holiday destinations, or the Philippines, with over 7,000 islands (yes, you read that correctly), inexpensive cost of visit and perfect weather, you will be able to find a place that brings out your smile.
My suggestion to you? Pack your bags, gather the family, strap the kids into the car seat, and head to the airport! The Philippines has long been regarded as one of the most beautiful places on the planet. With their unique array of wildlife and their seemingly endless supply of islands to explore, no matter what kind of traveller you are you will be welcomed with open arms to a place you will fall in love with.
With so many islands to visit and choose from, you will never run out of new experiences. You can swim with massive sharks the size of whales, you can scuba dive coral reefs, you can trek through the forest looking for hand sized little monkeys, you could take a river boat through the middle of the night and find yourself within a storm of fireflies. Not only are the beaches pristine, with warm clear water and white sand, the prices in even the most popular locations are hard to believe. There are many ways to get around in the Philippines, you can take a place from island to island, you can hop onboard a jeepney with 2 dozen locals, you can rent a motorcycle or a trike to take you around town, or you can walk from place to place. Getting from point ! to point B was never an issue and everywhere we ended up was a blessing (sometimes in disguise). Raised up with a American undertone, you will find many familiarities between here and the States, from music to fashion to the billboards in the malls (of which there are many. The Philippines is known for it’s malls). This is one international vacation you won’t soon forget and before you even get back home you will be planning your next trip here. With so much to explore there’s no way you could fit it all into one vacation!
