Family fun in Cyprus

You might not necessarily think of Cyprus as a great place to take your kids on holiday – especially if you were there ‘having it large’ in your teens at Aiya Napa.

And while it’s true that Aiya Napa’s reputation for all night partying is well-deserved, there is plenty more of this beautiful island to explore. And many of the resorts are set up perfectly for welcoming family groups – mums and dads, children and grandparents.

The other great thing about Cyprus is its location. It’s further south  than many other Mediterranean islands, meaning that it’s a great place to head for the October half term or the Easter school holidays, whereas other locations might not be as warm and sunny during the same periods.

You can fly off on Cyprus west holidays from Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, to name but a few airports.

And all the resorts have everything you need for a great family holiday – great beaches, well-managed hotels with plenty of facilities like swimming pool complexes and kids’ clubs. There’s the opportunity to do pretty much any water sport you can think of and there are some pretty towns to explore like Latchi, Millour, Larnica and Paphos.

Inland there is plenty to explore, including the Troodos Mountains which run the length of Cyprus. There are some beautiful gorges to explore as well as visiting the more traditional Cypriot villages which are often surrounded by olive groves.

There’s every kind of accommodation to choose from, whether you book a private villa with pool, a self-catering apartment with communal facilities like swimming pool and spa, or you prefer staying in a hotel  where all your meals and drinks are included as part of your accommodation deal.

Whatever kind of family you are, you’ll find something to please every taste on the island of Cyprus.
